Iskra's Ars Magica Page

My favorite game of all

...and I have played nearly all of them.

Ars Magica is unabashedly my favorite game. I have always preferred the weilders of magic, be they AD&D Wizards, Bushido Shugenja, or RuneQuest Sorcerers. Ars Magica is a game about and for wizards. It combines an elegant (and very imatated) system with a rich world: Mythic Europe.

There are plenty of very good sites for Ars Magica. Some of my favorites are:

My Own Saga's

I have two current and many past sagas for Ars Magica.

Nine Sisters of Sinead

Nine Sisters of Sinead
A saga based in the early times of the Order of Hermes: Ninth Century Hibernia (Eire, Ireland).
Dragon's Lake
Dragon Lake is a saga set in Ireland in the 1200's. The invading Normans have set up their own baronies while the Irish kings wage an incessant civil war. The Magi have a quiet haven they have defended from the surrounding chaos.
Apex Atlantica
Apex Atlantica is set in the 1150's in the Eastern Mediterranean. The covenant was situated on a wandering island that floats on the wine blue waters. That island was destroyed by foul treachery (and good high drama) from within and an invasion from without. The remnents of the covenant have begun to rebuild on a Greek island.
Novamir
A departure from the usual, this saga was not set in Mythic Europe, but in a world of my own creation. This world owes a large debt to the creative talents of the authors of FASA's Earthdawn, Empire of the Petal Throne, and Talislanta. With these excellent ingredients I made a sumptious feast that five game master contributed too.
Saevarum
My first and very long running saga of Magi on the Channal Island of Aldernay. This saga played one night a week for three years straight. The saga itelf had eighty years of campaign time pass.
Morbane
Four dedicated Bonisagus Magi, a level 7 aura, and a lonly tower surrounded by ocean for 50 miles. Their mission: Immortality. Each of the Magi achieved it: One by his seminal work (Summae: Vim, Level 38, Quality 14), One by Reincarnation, One by Lichdom, and the last by having 17 surviving apprentices and a level 128 longevity potion that didn't stop fertility.
Mons Solus
Wilderness magi in the icy mountains of the Urals in distant Novgorod Tribunal. These magi had access to more than 80 vis a season, but little more than pots and baskets as lab equipment.

Useful Links

Here are some good links for historic, mythic, and plain interesting information for Ars Magica.

The Regnal Chronology. Rulers and Dynastaties details. My personal favorite: Wulfgar the Hairy, a Visigoth that conqured much of Eastern Spain for his Frankish Overlord.
